Task Bar Wont Go Away

Posted on admin

I am using the MS Remote Desktop Connection manager to remote into my work machine from my high DPI laptop at home. Supposedly MS Remote Desktop Connection manager supports High DPI scaling whereas the regular remote desktop client in Windows 10 doesnot. I can now rdp into my work machine but the Windows 10 taskbar always displays at the bottom of my remote session.

  2. Windows 10 Task Bar Not Disappearing
  3. Task Bar Won't Go Away When Playing Games

I can now rdp into my work machine but the Windows 10 taskbar always displays at the bottom of my remote session. I do not want the Windows 10 taskbar to show while remoted into my work machine. I removed the unlock option but it still shows up during my RDP session. How do I make it go away?

Hi,You didn’t provide the system information about RDP host and RDP client so we don’t know which one is Windows 10 machine, and you didn’t mention that if this “task bar” is on host machine or client machine.Anyway, we did a test that remote from a Windows 10 machine to another Windows 10 machine. However, unfortunately we cannot reproduce the issue on both side.

The “hide taskbar feature” worked on both host and client machine.BeforeAfterIf the problematic task bar is on client side, please create another local user account to test. Also try putting the task bar on right/left side of the screen see if you can hide it properly.Meanwhile, install all Windows update pacakge on Windows 10 machine for good measure since some UI problems have been fixed by recent released update.Regards,D.

If I turn off scaling, the text is no longer blurry but unfortunately the icons and fonttext are microscopic on the remote host.

Seems like high DPI scaling over RDP is not ready for prime time. Hi,Glad to hear that, and you are right about that (DPI thing). Remote Desktop is not DPI scaling-aware as I know. After scaled screen down to full-HD, if you opened a remote desktop session to a server it was displayed at client's monitor’sfull native resolution. It was ignoring scaling settings, which made everything almost impossible to read.Regards,D.
