  1. Windows 10 Lock Up Black Screen

Mar 23, 2018  Fix Black login screen in Windows 10 Anniversary Update. Fixing this issue is however quite easy. It requires a bit tinkering with the settings, though. The culprit here is the animation settings in the System properties.

THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN AN ONGOING ISSUE WITH WINDOWS 10.Below is a Microsoft Knoledge Base entry from April of this year.httpw://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3055414'The lock screen in Windows 10 Technical Preview Build 10061 might appear as a black screen with a mouse cursorSymptomsWhen you sign out of Windows 10 Technical Preview Build 10061 and return to the lock screen, you might see only a black screen with a responsive mouse cursor. Pressing the Alt+Tab keys or the Ctrl+Alt+Del keys has no visible effect.WorkaroundIf you are experiencing this issue, follow these steps to sign into Windows:At the black screen, press the Ctrl key once on an attached physical keyboard. (You won’t see any visible change, but pressing the Ctrl key will place the cursor in the password box that you’re currently not able to see.)Now type the password of the user that just signed out and press Enter. This will sign you back into Windows and the desktop will appear. If you failed to sign in because you mistyped the password, press Enter once more.

  1. If you’re experiencing a black or blank screen, it may be a compatibility issue with your graphics card and Windows 10. The best way to do this is to check your graphics card manufacturer website for the latest and most compatible graphics card driver for Windows 10 and to find out about the status of compatibility with Windows 10.
  2. Nov 23, 2018 - Although Windows update is supposed to fix the problem. Not appear on the lock screen anymore instead you will see a black screen or a solid color. 10.Once done press Windows Key + L to go to your lock screen check.

Then retype the password and press Enter.' .PLEASE NOTE: IF YOU ARE INSTALLING WINDOWS 10. AFTER ENTERING YOUR PASSWORD, THE CURSOR SHOULD VANISH FOR SEVERAL MINUTES WHILE WINDOWS COMPLETES THE INSTALL SETUP. MY COMPUTER, A FAST ALIENWARE, TOOK ABOUT FIVE MINUTES TO COMPLETE THE SETUP AND THEN THE WINDOWS 10 DESKTOP APPEARED. Hi folks,Background. A year or more ago I followed this guide to set the Sign-in screen to a single colour rather than having to use Microsoft's default background image. So I set my own custom background image for the Lock screen (with no problem), and then once I hit a key to bring up the Sign-in screen it would should a solid background colour (happy days!).Issue.

I just upgraded to the Anniversary Update with no problems. My setup of Lock screen = custom image and Sign-in screen = solid colour was still working. I read that Microsoft had changed it so that when you hit a key to bring up the Sign-in screen it would just keep your Lock screen image behind and show the password box on top.
