I have problem with extremely unstable WS 2012.I'm using physical server connected with HP switch with 2 ports set by NIC and configured as swithc independet (LACP didn't work).my QNAP is also connected with two ports as a trunk to that HP switch, but set as LACP.I'm connecting phyiscal server with QNAP via iSCI. On physical server I have DC (with DHCP + DNS) and a Hyper-V for virtual machines.
On Hyper-V I have 2 debians and 6x WS 2012 DC, after installing WS I did backup. The problem is, that those WS are extremelyunstable.
They are running into blue screen 1/2 times a week, and the only thing I can do is format them. I can't even import that machine from backup.Few days ago I couldn't even install WS, it came to 80% and bsod so I had to format over and over.Funniest thing. Both Linux has 25+ days uptime and they are working perfectly, but I can't deal with MS.Any ideas why they are behaving like that?P.S.When MS die, errors says that it couldn't connect with QNAP (where it's xvhd was), But they never die all together. Just randomly. One die, while the other 5 is working fine, and in the next day another die.P.S.2 Linuxes are working fine, so I think that link between physical server - switch - QNAP might be good, because they have connection with HyperVisor.

For Redundancy ISCSI normal we configure it with 2 Networks running MPIO, so in case of QNAP, if that Box is used only for ISCSI Connections i would use the 2 Portswithout a trunk and configure it correct to provide 2 IPs from different Subnets and configure ISCSI MPIO correct. It's QNAP 12-Bay TurboNAS TS-EC1280U-RP with the newest OS. It is cappable of handling VM's on itself same as DC, but nvm, I'm using it only as a storage (I'm holding xvhd's on it).2.
About dividing trunk into 2 separate links. I'll check tomorrow I hope. What's your adivce about iSCSI with 2 separate links? And shall I make separate links from physical server to switch, or from QNAP to switch?

Have two separate subnetworks, different NICs, pair of switches (you don't want your switch being SPOF, don't you?) and configure MPIO. See why you should not use LACP with iSCSI on Windowshere:And QNAP is not VM storage. It's good for backups (Veeam?) but for primary storage look for something else.

Hi Kaai,Check Windows Server catalog to see if your physical server is certified for Server 2012:In most cases, it is not advisable to install other roles on a server running the Hyper-V role.Try to create a VM using local storage of the physical server. If possible, also monitor the physical switch.Are you using an ISO file or installation DVD to install the VMs? I'm thinking of buying some 2.5' HDD for physical server or build my own NAS with those actual qnap's disk and some PCI controller and use someFreeNAS i Nas4Free or Rockstor.I'm using ISO files, because I don't have DVD drive, and I'm using two different images (one for 2012, and second for 2012 Datacenter).I have 3 LUNs on that QNAP and I noticed, that those Linuxes are on different LUN, I will try install a new windows using that LUN (maybe it could help?).I used LACP because I thought it would work as I read but yeah, that might not.Thanks for all advices.
