Jul 14, 2014  The 'Allow wake timers' power option setting enables or disables Windows to automatically wake your computer from sleep on a timer for scheduled tasks and other programs. This tutorial will show you how to add or remove the 'Allow wake timers' setting under Sleep in Power Options for all users in Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8. The interesting question that i am left with is what is calling the wake up timer (activeringstimer). Where does windows keep its logs? I've gone into task scheduler but it only shows a history per task and appears to lack a listing of the activated task history or a proper search function. K L & Dan,Set the required settings as suggested by user Ken Rosenfield above.Control panel/power options must be set to allow for wakeup timers,and your Acronis Scheduler/advance options must be set so thatAcronis is allowed to wake the computer.Also note, that if your target is a usb extternal or network storage, they may have additional settings which must be set to allow the tagets to be awake when needed.Done and done backing up to SSD hard drive and still no worky. Backups start and run when I wake the computer from the keyboard. I'm running the current update of Acronis 2016.

This morning I made a change to the power settings in windows 10. I changed it from 'Enable' to 'Important wake timers only'.

(see attached image) I made a short backup script and sleeped the computer. It woke up both times and did the backup. I will need to wait till tomorrow to see it the regular backup occured.The windows shows a schedule but it says its to expire one minute before it's suppose to start.

My 2:15am backup did not run again but started as soon as I woke the computer normally via pressing the shift or enter keys late morning. I went back and restored the Computer Power setting from 'Important wake timers only' to 'Enable'. Update: SOLVEDMy computer since the Windows 10 update was not waking up to do its scheduled backup. The solution has been found.Windows 8.1 was very unfriendly for putting your computer to sleep. The solution for me was to build a short one line shortcut called Sleep which contained the following:C:WindowsSystem32rundll32.exe powrprof.dll,SetSuspendState 0,1,0I placed it on the taskbar where I could 'one click' it to put the machine to sleep.

Worked perfectly in Win 8.1.I suspected that it might be the issue and decided to stop using it. I'm sleeping the machine now via the Start GUI so now True Image is waking up and doing its backup as it should.I'd kind of like to return to using the shortcut but haven't found what the true command is when you click the Sleep button in the Start GUI.

I have no problem rebooting once a week/fortnight for updates, but what irks me, is that even though I manually disable, in task scheduler, UpdateOrchestrator's (in the reboot section) 'wake the computer to run this task', the computer will still wake up while I'm at work or whatever to install updates.It doesn't tell me that it has downloaded or is ready to install updates unless I manually check (which I don't habitually do). So one day at work it'll power up and do its thing, after which I'll have to go to the task scheduler and manually disable it again. This doesn't really do anything as the next silent update I don't notice will just re-enable it.I don't have many huge problems with W10, but this is ridiculous. If I hibernate the computer and turn wake-on-LAN, mouse, keyboard's ability to wake the computer, and even delve under the hood to stop things turning it on; IT SHOULD STAY OFF.

Trust me, every single thing I can find is set to disabled. Every device in the device manager, if it has the option to wake the computer, is set to disabled. Wake timers have been off from day one. Everything in the BIOS is disabled.

Sleep/hibernate both exhibit the same behaviour, and it's across two computers. I even almost went down the rabbit hole of thinking it might be a DisplayPort cord sending power to my GPU, but I was at my wit's end.No matter what happens, when Windows 10 installs a cumulative update in the background, it will set UpdateOrchestrator's reboot to whatever the scheduled time in the Control Panel is, and wake my computer from hibernate to install/reboot for updates.I feel like I'd need to start making incisions in the registry or something to prevent it from overwriting my damn settings each time. It's also been really wonky with detecting other computers on the network (a recent update helped, but not entirely). One computer can see itself and the other, but when I go to the other, it can't see itself.I can get to it if I manually type in the computer name, and I can get to it through a shortcut, but it doesn't show (sometimes) in the network page.The inconsistency is annoying, for sure, but this UpdateOrchestrator is physically turning my computer on when I have gone way out of my way, and beyond the average end user's ability, to make sure it stays hibernated.
